Hi,
I am SAP ABAP professional in India. I did my masters from Vic Uni in Melbourne in 2008. I ahve worked with brand Names like Accenture, SAP Labs, ITC Infotech and steel manufacturing giant like Jindal group in India. I am looking to form a circle of people in same profession presently employed in Australia. I want to create one group for it. How many people would join it?

Permalink Reply by Samir Patel on February 13, 2011 at 4:55pm Hi Anurag, I think it's a good initiative and I would certainly like to join the group. I have actually done my master degree (ERP - SAP 4.6c0 from UWS in 2002 but since I didn't get any opportunity in that field I have been working mainly in service industry since then (in recruitment & staffing industry since past 6 years. But I think it would be worth to connect with SAP professionals in Australia as well as in India.

I would higlhy appreciate if you could do a bit of research on SAP Job market and can provide all of us with a kind of insight on it. If you could tell us things like whats the minimmum experience one should have before coming to Australia looking for job. How is market SAP module vice like ABAP, BASIS, MM, HR, CRM? Is it true that companies there dont want to keep ABAP guys on permanent roles any more? and many more small or big thing that you can tell being in the field of recruitment there. Please reply.

Wake up why no one is replying any more. Please guys cooperate with each other. One reason why Indians earned good name in US and canada is because they helped each other to grow and they earned respect as a society first rather then individual. Please find some time and collaborate...

Hey Tarik,
Thanks a lot for your reply! Although I still have almost a year before I could get my residency but your tips would certainly help a lot of people around the globe who have residency and looking for job right now in Australia. I would also keep you tips in mind before I ever come there. I have one more request to you..please help me in keeping this thread alive and i want it to become the Blackbook for SAP (Specially Technical) JOB hunting in Australia. Please keep posting whatever knowledge you can pour in. My next request is to please submit some views on what SAP Technical skills are HOT and for which companies are willing to accept the people with less than 4 years of work experience.

Hello Anurag,
I guess the market is not bad at this point of time.. but the best way to hunt jobs in australia is seek.com.au.... it is effective and a very centralized in terms of job search ... or else you have to go to recruiters who can help... but i feel seek.com.au is more effective. i will give a golden tip from my end " do not apply to Principle companies via a recruiter.. if you know that a client company needs an sap consultant than it is best to apply directly to the client company from there company website directly, instead of a recruiter" ....... list out companies that have sap already in the australian market and directly hit there company websites career section !!!! it is more direct and effective.. i will list down some big companies that use sap already and requirements come in regularly:
7Eleven + Wollworth + Australia Post + Bhp Bulliton + Centerlink Australia + Medibank + porter davis (they need abapers right now .. i know that ) + philip moris (they also need sap technical people ) + rio tinto + fontera (dairy) + pauls milk
above are some of the makor once.... all the best ..
