The AIYD believes that whilst constructive activities have historically taken place between both countries, such activities have generally been carried out in an ad hoc manner. The establishment of the AIYD will provide a sustainable platform for the young leaders of Australia and India to come together and foster a strong partnership between the two countries.
In brief, the AIYD host 15 of the best and brightest young minds of each country at an annual conference,in India and Australia in alternate years. The participants are chosen from a variety of professions with the aim to increase perspective of the participants and to encourage our leaders of tomorrow to think outside the box. High profile participants are selected from a variety of backgrounds and mechanisms (such as online discussion forums, publication journals etc.) have been put in place to ensure that regular and formal discussion continues after the annual conferences.
During the AIYD conference, influential speakers present their perspective on issues that affect the Australia India relationship, and participants have the opportunity to engage with these speakers on a face-to-face basis.
