Now going to Australia for higher studies becomes easy as Australian government announces changes in student visa rules.

As per the visa changes, all the international students applying for Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral courses at Australian Universities will be required to submit less documents in support of their student’s visa application.
   
According to Chris Bowen, Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, from 26th March, 2012 more flexible work conditions will be introduced for all international students having Australian student visa.

All the international students will be allowed to work a maximum of 40 hours for a two-week period, rather than 20 hours for each week.

Bowen also said that students having postgraduate research visa will be allowed to work for an unlimited amount of hours per week once their course has started.

Australian High Commissioner to India, Peter Varghese in New Delhi said, "These streamlined visa arrangements recognize the strong record of Australia's universities in attracting high quality students and will not only reduce the complexity of the visa application process but also result in faster processing of student visas."

He also said that the changes in Australian student visa rules will lead to a steady and sustainable growth number of Indian students coming to Australia for pursuing higher studies.

The rise in currency, strict visa rules and incidents of violence against Indian students in Australia lead to a fall of around 3 billion dollars in revenue of Australia's education sector from foreign students.

Last year, a fall of around 20% was recorded in number of international students coming to Australia for higher studies as per the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics but the Australian government dubbed this decline "as expected, and a good thing".

The education sector of Australia is one of the major revenue earners for in the country and attracts a large number of foreign students, including Indian students.
